1. Sign Up
You can sign up for free but with this plan, Wix will add some site ads. This will make your site more amateur. We recommend choosing an affordable premium-paid plan. you can start with a simple plan and then pay extra for new features that best fit your needs. Open up new opportunities for your business using the below Wix Premium plans.
- Combo plan: $18/month ($14/month paid yearly)
- Unlimited plan: $23/month ($18/month paid yearly)
- Pro plan: $28/month ($23/month paid yearly)
- VIP plan: $47/month ($39/month paid yearly)
- Basic plan: $28/month ($23/month paid yearly)
- Business Unlimited plan: $33/month ($27/month paid yearly)
- Business VIP plan: $56/month ($49/month paid yearly)
- Enterprise plan: Custom pricing (for large businesses)
If you own a small business, we recommend you Combo plan. It is worth trying, it comes with a personalized domain name, enough storage, no ads on your website. If you want to promote your online store then Business Unlimited is the perfect plan for you. With this plan, you can add unlimited products. While for bigger online shops the best choice would be the VIP plan because it offers first priority customer support.
2. Choose your pre-designed structure (template)
Once you are logged in, click on “Create a New Site” from the dropdown menu. Choose the type of website you want and Wix will show you a gallery with more than 500 templates.
You can search and choose which design fits best your needs. They are organized by category and type. If the first one doesn’t match your activity, you can search for another one.
A disadvantage of this part is that you choose your template, you can’t change it, but you can modify it for sure. Wix is really flexible to edit, remove or add elements and new features.
3. Change Business info, Text and Images
After your template is set you will have a graphic view where you can add, edit or drag and drop text boxes, images. Update your company, portfolio, or blog details, click the text box to edit text, change color, font size, style. Change preadded images. You can choose among many design possibilities. Double click on a text box to change its content and then select, font style(color, size transform, or decoration (First Picture). Double click on the image box and change its image (Second Picture)
4. Personalize the Background
Change your background on the left sidebar at the “background” button. add Photo, color, or video as a website background. There are two sidebars. The left sidebar is used to add extras such as backgrounds, more pages, images apps. The right sidebar is to duplicate, rotate, delete extras (explained in more detail in step 7). You can firstly use the left sidebar to create elements and then the right sidebar to duplicate delete copy them.
5. Add pages
After you have created your homepage, you have to add other pages that will give visitors more information about your business. Most often pages are “About Us”, “Contact Us” etc. To add a new page on Wix Editor, click the down arrow next to your current page and then click “Manage Pages”. In this way, you can add and build new pages to serve different purposes. The first picture shows where to add new pages, while the second adds a specific page and chooses its template. for example, if you are creating an “About Us” page, there are some predesigned options.
6. Add Apps
If your website looks too static, less interactive, then no need to worry. you can add as many apps as you want to boost its functionalities. find apps on Wix App Marketplace and add use them to register restaurant orders, follow up some quizzes, catering services, etc. Apps come with an interesting and interactive design. All of them offer free and premium plans. Search the app that you want or find it by categories on the left bar.
7. Use Wix Editor to set Up a Blog
At the bottom of the builder, the menu clicks “Start Blogging” to create a new professional blog. It will be automatically integrated with your site. Create a blog post, by adding posts or managing existing ones, as shown in the first picture. You can also “Add Blog Elements” to add other features like Instagram feed, Events, or RSS(To share content online). Or, add blog apps to boost their appearance or functionality. Follow the beginner guide for starting a Blog.
8. Add an Online Store
Wix is the best website builder for small businesses. Click the “+” sign, on the left sidebar, to add add-ons. among other add-ons, select Store and Wix will set up e-commerce functions on your sites, such as product galleries, multiple payment methods, and inventory management. In just some clicks your online store is ready to sell.
9. Optimize for Search Engines
With Wix, you can add SEO functions, keywords, site meta descriptions. On the left sidebar click “Pages”, then Main Pages, or whatever page you want to edit. On 3 dots drop down select “SEO Google” to edit its settings (first picture). Edit meta description, SEO title, URL (second picture)
10. Make It Look Good on Mobile
One important this s responsiveness. Since more than 40% of users come from mobiles, you need to make your website design mobile-friendly. Wix makes it easy for you. To see how your website will look on mobile, go to your desktop screen. Hover your mouse and choose a mobile version. Wix has done its job perfectly and your mobile version looks great. But you can make as many changes as you want and they will not affect the desktop version.
11. Choose a Domain Name
When you click publish Wix provides you with an option to add a domain name. You can add your domain name only with paid plans. If you are using a free plan your domain will have the format:
www.webdevalb.wixsite.com/my-site, which can get you online but you will look like an amateur. If you are promoting a business and want to be professional we recommend using a paid plan.
12. Publish!
You can make your site public by clicking the “PUBLISH” button on the right corner, next to preview. This is not permanent, you can make changes anytime by clicking “Manage Site” then “Edit Site”. Then click “Publish” again.
I’ve learn a few excellent stuff here. Certainly worth bookmarking for revisiting. I surprise how much effort you place to create this kind of wonderful informative website.
